I've started the preliminary phase of 'How to construct the face'. We were given a few guidelines as to how to do that:
Basically draw an egg shape, place the bottom of the eyes just above the invisible middle horizontal line of the face and the nose & mouth proportionately from there downwards.
It's not an easy process - though I'm sure I'll get better and more confident as I progress!
I am challenged to ask questions and to look deep into my inner world. I love this process - the not knowing is so exciting. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn to put the 'internal critic' aside and learn to love whatever is presented.
Nice & simple!
I've used some chalks which smudge nicely - good for blending.
I've not done portraits before and the last time I did any 'drawing' was about 25 years ago! So I have been very excited by this process of letting go & seeing what comes onto my page. Here are my first attempts - I'm excited by the different 'personalities' which manifest by tiny little changes here and there.
Our faces are so incredibly unique - such a joy to celebrate them.
Balancing the features will probably be my next task!.
I notice how vulnerable and beautifully open a face can be without hair. . . . .
